In the governing equation,

this converger tests the following ratio,

\[ \left|\mathbf{\dfrac{\Delta{}U}{U}}\right|\leqslant{}tol. \]

where \(\mathbf{\Delta{}U}\) denotes the displacement increment of the current sub-step and \(\mathbf{U}\) denotes the total displacement of the system.
